Update for PGWP Eligibility
The update explains new rules for the Post-Graduation Work Permit (PGWP) starting November 1, 2024.
What hasn’t changed:
- You still need to complete a program at an eligible institution and meet general location rules to qualify for a PGWP.
- If you apply before November 1, 2024, the current rules apply.
New eligibility requirements:
- If you apply after November 1, 2024, you must meet new language and field of study requirements.
Language requirements:
- You need to prove your language skills in reading, writing, listening, and speaking. Accepted tests include CELPIP, IELTS, TEF Canada, and TCF Canada.
Field of study requirements:
- Your program must be linked to jobs with long-term shortages, such as agriculture, healthcare, STEM, trade, and transport.
